We encourage you to donate to our partners, who, while each having a different core mission, are equally united in their pledges to help Iowa’s youth.
The Iowa Youth Writing Project (IYWP) is a non-profit outreach collective founded by University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop graduates in 2010 that aims to join Iowa City’s unique literary heritage with Iowa’s larger community by empowering, inspiring, and educating Iowa’s youth through language arts and creative thinking.
The IYWP provides one-of-a-kind writing, publishing, and creative learning opportunities to Iowa’s children and teens. To ensure that all young people can participate, the IYWP provides programs at little or no cost, thanks to the time, energy, and creativity of IYWP volunteers, partnerships with local organizations and institutions, and the generosity of community members.
The IYWP donated writing materials, volunteers, and many, many oreos to students during this project. Thank you!

Fifth Ward Saints North transforms the lives of children through athletic, academic, artistic and social service programs. To the youth in its programs, the Fifth Ward Saints offers a chance to participate in organized activities. In reality, the Fifth Ward Saints offers far more than that—it provides a way to connect at-risk children to ongoing case management, as well as nutrition and educational services.

Iowa Reading Corps is a statewide initiative to help ensure that all Iowa students are on track to read at grade level by the end of 3rd grade. The program places AmeriCorps members, trained as Elementary Literacy Tutors, at sites across Iowa to implement prescribed literacy interventions for students who are just below proficiency in reading.
Iowa Reading Corps provided support for this project through the funding of an Americorps Service Member who spearheaded the project. Thank you!
